level design



This map was created for the Map-Review JKA Geocomp Challenge, a contest focusing on
geometric complexity in a Radiant level design restricted to a 1024x1024x2048 unit mapping space.
Texture use was limited to 10 texture images, but unlimited shaders could be used to manipulate
the shaders into desired combinations.

The theme I chose for this environment was to have a narrative feel, even though it was designed
for multiplayer action. Inspired by Onimusha 3 and Resident Evil, I decided to use time travel via
teleporter entities to show the same sci-fi lab in the present, where it is pristine and stark, and in
the future, where the lab has been destroyed by monstrous vegetation. A seed pod in a test cylinder
in the present is a clue as to how the disaster occurred.
